Closing time...one last call for alcohol

In 1998, a lame band called Semisonic released the song "Closing Time," and it became a smash hit, the band's only hit song. This song was overplayed and abused by bars, restaurants, and nearly every workplace. I remember playing (and singing along to, sadly) this song when my minimum wage summer job shifts would reach their pathetic end. Here is a sample of the song's brilliance:

Closing time
Open all the doors and let you out into the world
Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from
Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

Tuesday, May 29, just a few days away now, marks another Closing Time for my wife and me. We are officially closing on our very first home. This is exciting, to say the least. So one last call for alcohol, dudes. It's closing time.

Good old Jeff Williams and I used to mock this song on a regular basis. I think we both secretly liked it. 'Tis catchy.

Anywho. I guess I just wanted to be a part of the last ncpollocks post. You know how I feel about blogging. And you know I appreciate your top quality grammer ("wife and me" instead of "wife and I") - it's appreciated. I'm looking forward to the scpollocks blog.

And a new baby.

Get it done.

Thanks for the Jeff Williams memories.

And I hate to tell you this, but that faulty grammar is actually correct. Subjects and objects, dude; you should check them out. "my wife and me" is the object of the sentence; if they were the compound subject (like in your sentence), then it would be "my wife and i." An easy trick is to take out "my wife." Would it make sense to write "Tuesday, May 29, just a few days away now, marks another Closing Time for I"? Of course not. You get the picture. Now get me on RSS.

Dude. I was actually complimenting your grammar. Folks screw that one up all the time and I was giving you props. You must be on edge about the new house. I'm about to call you for the scoop.

yeah, but how do you get your picture to show up on a comment?

Dudes. Nice.

I saw Semisonic live, in an arena! I think they were opening for Barenaked Ladies on the Stunt tour.

I actually liked at least two other of their songs.
